Job Title: Dispute Resolution - Litigation Lawyer

Qualifications:
A law degree from a recognised university
An additional degree in economics, IT, business or other useful discipline would be helpful
Post-graduate studies in law or related discipline would be highly regarded

Experience:
Five (5) years post-qualification experience within a regulatory environment
Management of a dispute resolution/litigation function.
Litigation and case management of matters involving ICT industries
Excellent experience dealing with parties to a dispute (including consumers) and those representing them, mediators, arbitrators and the judiciary
Developing ADR guidelines and case management principles
Drafting consultation papers and legal instruments
Drafting legal advising and case reports on mediated or litigated dispute

Knowledge:

  • Excellent understanding of civil procedure
  • Excellent understanding and practice of case management
  • Very good understanding of disputed matters in telecommunications and IT
  • Excellent understanding of ICT regulatory function and how that impacts on ADR and litigation practices
  • Good understanding of competition law and telecommunications regulatory law
  • Middle East and Arabic cultural awareness and sensitivity

Reports to:
Manager - Legal & Regulatory

Main Functions of Role:

  • Legal advising and correspondence for disputed/litigated matters in ICT
  • Litigation and case management of matters involving ICT industries
  • Develop guidelines and formal legal instruments for disputed matters including dispute resolution procedures and guidelines concerning other legal procedures
  • Draft consultation papers on relevant matters for consultation
  • Assist in the development of industry codes of conduct and practice
  • Draft legal advising and case reports on mediated or litigated disputes and maintain relevant databases for internal reference
  • Represent the RA in ADR and litigated disputes including at conferencing
  • Be an internal resource for education and training purposes in ADR and litigated disputes
  • Report regularly to Manager and RA on cases and matters in ADR and litigation
