ictQATAR announced on May 11, 2010 the launch of its Microsoft Enterprise Agreement portal, which allows government agencies to better manage their Microsoft software.
The Government IT Platforms Manager, ictQATAR
The portal was developed as a part of ictQATAR's Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft, which provides reduced software costs, access to the latest products and updates, home-use programs, e-Learning on Microsoft software and an employee purchase program.
"For government to be more effective, it is essential to have the latest information and communication technology available to its employees. The new portal not only makes software licensing more cost effective and easier to manage, but also provides extra benefits like enhanced support and training," said Hassan Al-Sayed, Executive Director, Government Information Management Office, ictQATAR.
Additional benefits of the Enterprise Agreement portal include simplification of the software procurement process, simplified cost plans that allow more flexibility, desktop deployment services and real-time support for Microsoft software. The portal also allows for standardizing Microsoft software for all desktops across the organization.
"The Enterprise Agreement portal gives the government organizations access to the applications and tools they need to expand their technology environment as they grow, without incurring extra costs. Microsoft is pleased to work with ictQATAR and we have a shared commitment to accelerating the country's ICT strategy and enhancing government efficiencies," said Mohammed Hammoudi, Country Manager, Microsoft Qatar.
