If Qatar's youth are right, in the future there will be a mirror in every home that tells you where to find your car keys, dresses that change color based on your mood, trees with built-in information systems that tell you things such as the current temperature on the Corniche, and shoes that can make you dance or help you walk on water.
These are just some of the ideas submitted by the more than 1,000 children who participated in ictQATAR's (Supreme Council for Information and Communication Technology) "Live Technology" competition. The competition, which was open to children ages 6-16, asked children to answer "What do you want technology to do for you in the future?" Entrants were allowed to answer the question in any form they wanted - videos, drawings, songs, poems or computer presentations. .
The winners of the competition and their prizes were:
First Place - MacBook Air:

Abdullah M Yousuf (10 years) Mohammed Al Al-Naimi (14 years)
Second Place - Mac Mini:

Noof-Al-Sowaidi (12 years) Kaltham Al-Khater (6 years)
Third Place - iPod Touch:

Maha Abdullah (6 years) Haya Al-Raban (9 years)
The competition was launched at the "Live Technology" exhibition held at the Villagio Mall June 26-28, 2008. Hosted by ictQATAR and co-sponsored by iSpot and RasGas, the exhibition gave children and young adults the opportunity to experience the latest and coolest technology firsthand. Visitors to the exhibition also had the opportunity to be trained by experts on some the latest technologies.
