Business Connect Seminar Addresses Benefits of Incorporating ICT into Business Plans

Nearly 200 members of Qatar's business community came together on March 20, 2010 for ictQATAR's Business Connect Seminar, which focused on how information and communication technology can help give businesses a competitive edge in today's global market place.

The seminar featured local and regional experts in technology solutions for businesses, as well as case studies from businesses that have used ICT to succeed.

"Whether you own a small business or work for a large corporation, information and communication technology is an important factor to consider when developing your business plan. Technology can improve systems, save costs and provide a real competitive advantage when integrated properly. ictQATAR is committed to helping business in Qatar realize these benefits," said Khaled Tawfik, Manager of Market Development  at ictQATAR.

Topics covered at Business Connect included the benefits of cloud computing, mobility systems in retail and mobile commerce, with presentations from ictQATAR, Qtel, Microsoft, MEEZA, Ali Bin Ali Technology Solutions, DohaSooq, and NTG Clarity Solutions. Khalifa Haroon, CEO of iloveqatar.net and Majdi Alkhatib, Marketing Executive for Qatar A to Z, both presented local examples of how ICT could help grow a business.


Topics covered at Business Connect included the benefits of cloud computing, mobility systems in retail and mobile commerce, with presentations from ictQATAR, Qtel, Microsoft, MEEZA, Ali Bin Ali Technology Solutions, DohaSooq, and NTG Clarity Solutions.

In his presentation on "Why Cloud Computing?," Karl Roe, Director of Strategic Alliances at MEEZA, said that cloud computing offered companies an IT solution that provided agility, quality and value. Qtel's Director of Enterprise Accounts, Billye Atout, stressed that for businesses, ICT could help businesses address their key challenges, such as operational costs, customer acquisition and retention, and maintain a competitive advantage.

Following the seminar, numerous companies took part in an exhibition for attendees to showcase their technology business solutions. In addition the organizations that presented during the seminar, all of which participated in the exhibition, Alameh Networks, Doha Bank and PC One also took part.

This is ictQATAR's third Business Connect seminar, which are aimed at sharing the latest trends and advances in ICT for business in Qatar. Previous seminars featured technology challenges and opportunities for small and medium business and the power of e-marketing.
