ictQATAR Recalls Qatar’s Past in Qatar National Day Celebration Event
The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ictQATAR) marked Qatar National Day with an interactive celebration organized at the Ministry premises on Doha corniche.
The event, attended by Her Excellency the Minister Dr. Hessa Al-Jaber, senior staff and ictQATAR employees, honored the country’s biggest day with a celebration of Qatari folklore, music and dance, and saw a complete floor transformed into a classical fereej, or neighborhood, complete with majlis, dokkans (small shops) and stands serving traditional Qatari food.
The program featured traditional children’s games, along with dancers and singers performing to music specially composed by Faisal al-Tamimi.
“We extend warm greetings to the government, people, and leadership of the State of Qatar on this happy anniversary. Marking Qatar National Day is a lovely annual gathering for both citizens and residents to see examples of the deep-rooted heritage and culture of Qatar’s past. It is also an opportunity to express feelings of love and gratefulness to this generous country,” said Noor Shahdad, Director of Communications and Public Relations, ictQATAR.
“Every year all institutions and agencies, as well as individuals countrywide compete to celebrate the Qatar National Day to show how much they love and belong to this country and the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology is proud to be in the forefront of celebrating it,” she added.
The program also included a photography competition where attendants were encouraged to take and share their best event photos at hashtags #ICTQND and #QND2015.
